What is proposed?

Twynam Group is preparing to lodge a Concept State Significant Development Application (SSDA) to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment to transform the site located at 46-52 Nicholson Street and 59-67 Christie Street, St Leonards into a new precinct to be known as Nicholson Place.

The Concept SSDA seeks approval for a mixed-use precinct which will include:

  • Approximately 271 Build-to-Rent apartments
  • Four levels of commercial office space
  • Ground floor retail
  • Community areas and public domain improvements
  • Underground carparking

If approved, the project will progress to a Detailed Design phase where comprehensive plans and designs will be developed and shared with the community for further feedback.

Our vision for Nicholson Place is to be a seamless destination for work, play and stay by unlocking new housing choice in a vibrant neighbourhood that connects premium rental accommodation, communal spaces, jobs and transport. It will support a better experience of St Leonards for everyone.

The site

Located within 300m of world-class transport links in a highly active area, the proposal responds to the changing face of St Leonards and is strategically aligned with planning and place policies such as the St Leonards and Crows Nest 2036 Plan, Greater Sydney Region Plan, Future Transport 2036, Liveable Lane Cove 2036 Community Strategic Plan, NSW Government Housing 2041 Strategy, plus more.

Activated streets, site-through links, new public space, planted trees and landscaping, public art, and ground floor retail and cafes will blend to create a clear, safe and invigorated sense of place.
